For many years, the Maleny Uniting Church has hosted a pre-Christmas event. Groups in the church and community groups from the Maleny area are asked to provide some sort of display. These displays are viewed by members of the public in the week before Christmas. Donations received during each event were given to a community organisation, including Maleny Neighbourhood Centre, Maleny Hospital Auxiliary, and the RangeCare.
Until 2019, this was the Christmas Tree Festival. Each community group was asked to provide a Christmas Tree which was set up in the church or hall.
This was discontinued in 2020 because of uncertainty due to COVID-19, when, instead, each community group was asked to provide a short video with the theme of “Hope”. The Hope Video
